Beginning with Christ: Part 5 (Assurance of God’s Guidance)
Why God is NOT some divine clockmaker
===
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
===
God’s guidance begins with our trust.
It’s a whole-life trust, essentially an every day re-commitment of the surrender we gave to Christ when accepting the gift of salvation. Exchanging God’s authority in our lives for eternal life.
Still an unbelievable trade.
In my humble opinion.
Anyway, the beauty of this proverb is the promise that God doesn’t leave me to wander through life alone. God is not some divine clockmaker that sets the clock and then leaves it. No, He is intimately involved in my life.
God wants a daily relationship with me.
Stunning!
More:
God promises to guide me, to “direct my paths.” Of course there is a tradeoff here too: that I would trust God with my whole heart and follow Him.
Like I said before, a daily surrender. Not a one-and-done thing.
It’s not an easy life … and sometimes I must really slow things down, de-clutter my time, in order to hear that still, small voice of God. But — oh boy! — this life is worth living.
God has taken me on quite the adventure, and there’s more to come.
All right, it’s time for you to jump into the ongoing adventure too. Specifically, this is the last of the intro emails. Tomorrow you’ll be joining everyone else in the ongoing Daily Minute of Inspiration emails.
I’ll see you soon.
