Be Transformed
Transformers … more than meets the eye

Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God — what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 (NET)

As I write this, my YouTube watching has been interrupted by some interesting ads (well, interesting to me):
Someone is reprinting all the classic Transformers comics into huge books for serious collectors.
Now, that has nothing to do with this verse except that I’m almost always singing the Transformers song in my head whenever I hit this verse.
😆
God’s transformation here, which is the work of Christ and the Holy Spirit, begins with the renewing of our mind. Not our hearts, not our souls, but our minds.
I once heard pastor Ben Stuart say it this way:
“What you think about is what you’ll care about. And what you care about, you’ll chase.”
This is essentially the playbook of how any human being goes from complete ignorance to passionate action toward anything.
Be careful what you fill your mind with.
All those hours talking with friends … TV … radio / podcasts … whatever you’re soaking your mind with will, inevitably, shape your own thinking.
It’s not an overnight thing (usually); it’s a slow process.
But the things we fill our minds with impact our heart and, in turn, affect our actions.
This is why it’s critical to spend your time soaking in God’s Word, and surrounding yourself with like-hearted believers.
(note: not cutting yourself off from the lost world, there is a balance here).
The Holy Spirit’s work on us while we’re still here on the earth is transformation:
Making you more like Jesus.
That work is ongoing & you can help it along by spending time with Him.
