All Have Gone Astray
Spiritual dangers of grazing through life
===
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned — every one — to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 (ESV)
===
We don’t use the word “iniquity” much anymore.
Here’s a definition: Deviation from what is right; gross injustice, sin, wickedness
To be honest, that’s a bit harsher than how I feel when I read that word. A huge injustice … wickedness. I don’t think of myself as a wicked man, and yet …
Here is the Bible telling me how it really is.
Harsh truth.
I’m dumb as sheep, too.
Sheep are known to wander around, simply eating the next patch of grass … and then the next one … and the next one … and before long they are lost and in trouble.
How do I do that?
Well, I’ll wake up and start my day. Grabbing some coffee and then hitting the to do list.
And then crossing one item off the list … then the next one … and then the next one … and before long, the day is over and I’ve spent little time with God or even caring to ask what God wants to do with my day.
Wandering around … lost …
And that’s AFTER being saved by Christ!
All of us need a Good Shepherd to guide us and rescue us.
My days are always better when I start by spending time with Jesus. That’s part of the reason I’ve structured these emails this way, to be a good start to your day with the Good Shepherd.
Anyway, I hope this helps you today.
… and tomorrow
… and the next day
… and the next day …
