AI sycophants & the grace of God
The Witness of Nature
===
In past generations he allowed all the nations to go their own ways, yet he did not leave himself without a witness by doing good, by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you with food and your hearts with joy.”
Acts 14:16-17 (NET)
===
Another verse showing some of the incredible patience & mercy of the Lord.
The world is broken by sin and God doesn’t have to let us live & enjoy it.
The fact that we have the rain from the heavens and the fruitful seasons and satisfaction with food is all part of God’s grace.
As much as the Lord yearns for us to be in right relationship with Him, He is no tyrant.
He allows us to make the choices -- even the eternally tragic wrong one.
Love’s very existence requires the freedom to choose.
Otherwise we are merely robots.
It’s interesting to write about this in the new age of so-called AI. I can tell you from my own experience chatting with the bots that I don’t particularly enjoy it.
Mostly because there’s little that surprises or challenges me. It’s designed to be overly affirming.
In other words:
Robots are little more than “yes” men.
Ultimately, no one wants that hanging around. It’s an annoyance.
It certainly is not love. It can’t be.
What we have in these verses is a general display of God’s good grace to the whole world in an effort to draw us to the truth:
God is love, God is good, and life abundant is only found in Him.
