A verse for when you feel abandoned by God

Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, Lord, do not abandon those who seek your help.
Psalm 9:10 (NET)
===
This is a psalm of David.
As you probably know, David was a warring king.
He went off to fight many battles. Many thrust upon him by his circumstances (hiding from a king who wanted to destroy him). Many others when he was the king. And some because of sins he committed.
Throughout his reign, he continued to rely on God and seek His help.
(Well, there was that one time when he took a census and showed reliance on his own army instead of God … that didn’t go well.)
Anyway, unsurprising, this psalm is about God who protects and fights for His people.
This verse is meant to be encouragement when we find ourselves surrounded by enemy forces — either physical or spiritual.
Trust in the Lord, He won’t abandon you.
As a note, this reality can sometimes be very different from our feelings.
For instance, if I’m in a troubling situation and I’m struggling to see God’s hand at work around me, then it can feel like God has abandoned me.
A false feeling because God has not, in fact, abandoned me.
That’s just a lie from the pit of hell.
So, when I’m feeling that way, I find it’s good to preach truth to myself.
And what better truth to preach than the very Word of God which I’ve hidden in my heart?
