A critical question
God Planned It for Good
===
As for you, you meant to harm me, but God intended it for a good purpose, so he could preserve the lives of many people, as you can see this day.
Genesis 50:20 (NET)

What’s your perspective when bad things happen?
Joseph was kidnapped by his brothers … sold into slavery … falsely convicted of a crime … imprisoned … forgotten …
And then became the second most powerful person in Egypt.
He was probably struggling through all of those hardships for fifteen or twenty years (I don’t remember the math exactly).
Almost anyone would forgive him for being bitter and vindictive toward his brothers.
I mean one of the most popular action story genres is revenge:
* Taken
* John Wick
* The Count of Monte Cristo
We eat that stuff up.
Except Joseph had no desire to serve a cold dish of revenge.
Why?
Because he had the proper perspective on what God was doing throughout it all. Maybe he did that with the wisdom of hindsight, but I think he was the kind of guy who just had an outsized amount of faith.
Anyway, even at the passing of his father, when his brothers are scared and trying for one last “con,” Joseph gives them grace.
So, what’s your perspective when bad things happen?
The answers are critical to how you live your life.
