š 400!
400 Dispersed
===
For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and about 400 men joined him. He was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and nothing came of it.

Well, today is post number 400!
So I went through and picked out some obscure verse dealing with the number 400.
š
Actually, I thought this would be a good one to compare the Disciples with.
For context, this verse is a part of a speech that Gamaliel (a priest of Israel) told after the Sanhedrin had chastised Peter and the apostles for preaching about Jesus.
Gamaliel was reminding them of their recent history.
In this case, some would-be āsaviorā had once risen, riled up 400 supporters, was summarily killed, and his support scattered.
While Jesus was popular from time to time, His followers numbered much less than 400.
(Probably somewhere between 72 and 11, depending on how you want to count.)
Letās be generous and say itās 100.
Thatās only 25% the size of Theudasās band.
God used a few faithful followers to change the whole world.
Technically the Disciples scattered too -- for a few days.
The resurrected Jesus brought them back together and gave them a mission.
They stayed concentrated in Jerusalem and quickly saw 3,000+ converted. Those people, who had come from all over the world, then dispersed and shared the good news of Christ with their contacts.
A leader without God lost his movement the moment he died; but Jesusās movement multiplied once He died.
Itās still moving, across the whole world.
Itās amazing what God can do with some faithful followers.

400 daily posts have been fun.
Iām looking forward to even more.
